Mini Trucks OF Tampa Bay

Sales@minitrucksoftampabay.com

Japanese Mini Trucks also known as, Kei trucks (Kei meaning tiny, small or mini) have been made in Japan starting in 1959. In Japan, and many of the Pacific rim countries these vehicles are used as family farms, and daily for personal and business purposes on their roads. and anyone who has service overseas will attest to they are on every military base. These versatile little vehicles are widely used in agriculture, fisheries, construction and even for firefighting. In one south Asia country and in Australia they are even used as drifters (not recommended).

Japanese mini trucks are produced by Daihatsu (Toyota), Suzuki, Mitsubishi, Subaru, and Honda, and these companies are some of the most durable and reliable automobile manufacturers in the world. You can use a handy mini truck for anything you can think of, from small trips to the home center to hunting out in the woods, where a $40,000.00 full sized pick up, (that get 15MPG on a good day) just makes no sense!!!! Or just as your daily driver, at 45+ miles per gallon! For years local governments here in the Tampa Bay area have used them at parks and large recreation areas, as will as collages and universities. Even MacDill AFB had these as service vehicles and the City of St Petersburg use two of the van versions for many years as rescue units for special events due to the small size and ability to get into crowds where large fire trucks and ambulances couldn’t.

The Japanese mini truck is a tiny but practical pickup, like the older Ford Ranger was. It is available in 2 or 4WD. They can have high/low transmissions, and rear differential lock. They all have fully an enclosed cab, windows, seat belts, windshield wipers, AM radio, cigarette lighter, heater/air vents, lights, and signals. Everything required for road use by Florida statute. Some are equipped with A/C as well. They generally have 6 ft. long beds with fold-down/removable sides. Options include a dump bed and scissor lift options, but are harder to find. The KEI truck maximum length as per Japanese specs is just 10’ 6”, and 54 inches wide! The 2 WD models have, depending on make, the engine in the rear or middle where 4WD models have a full cab forward design with the engine under the seats and bed.

We primarily import mini trucks and JDM vehicles that are 25 years or older as inventory. Because they are street legal in Florida, but more so, because they’ve lasted the test on time, you know they’re dependable. Japanese mini trucks can go for 120,000 miles (193000 Kilometers) and beyond. There are many listed in Japan with twice that mileage. It really depends on how well you care for them. They are shipped here straight from Japan through a reputable agent we have in Japan. Trucks are all serviced before selling.

Due to Japanese laws that regulate the surplus of the older vehicles, importers bring more used Kei trucks into the US than new. Unlike Americans that drive for the fun of driving, In Japan the average driver does 2- 4000 miles a year. Movement for the most part in Japan is mass transit. Many of the trucks we import have been driven much less than that. The average mileage range on our imports is 50-75000 KIL, (35-55000 miles). In American standards just broken in!!!!! They are shipped directly from Japan by sea, for sale at prices ranging from US $6,500 to $10,000. Depending on year, make, and options.

We ensure that they are street legal (state regulations may vary by state for mini trucks, so check your state’s regulations), and we include all imported paperwork. We can also import newer models but clients must acknowledge that they are for “OFF ROAD” use only! Contact us for more information on that option.
